Component Overlapping: Avoid overlap on component boxes. This will ensure editing the components stays as easy as possible. If they overlap it can make clicking on the component “behind” the other difficult. (Example below: the “Let Em” overlaps the “KNOW” text). To fix this just drag up the top box so it fits the word and readjust if necessary.
Layers Naming: Recommendation is to always name the layers, especially if you end up building a slide with a lot of components, again for ease of use. To name a layer, double click on the name and a text box will appear to edit.
Snap to Grid: When moving components the component will snap to the closest grid. Sometimes this makes it difficult to perfectly align or center objects. To fix this Go in the lower right hand corner of the screen and increase the number of boxes in the grid. This will make the boxes smaller and make it easier to align components.
Layers Panel: Check the layers panel and ensure to delete anything that is not being used. This will help keep the slide itself clean and make editing easier down the line. If you are completely redesigning a slide, it might be easier to just start with the blank template vs adjusting an existing slide to ensure only components that are being used show as layers. (Example below: there are popup components left over from a previous slide design)
Layering Animation: Having the elements that lay on top of each other animate in on the same timing and type of animation to allow for the most seamless transitions.
Component Animation: Pay attention to the entrance of components, would not recommend having components animation on top of each other.
Full Image Graphics: Rebuild and utilize the components as much as possible vs doing a full image graphic. This will ensure ease of use when needing to edit, allow for more seamless transitions and give you the most freedom when designing. (Tip: Utilize the copy and paste feature among component between slides to help build out slides with similar elements)
Lock Components: If you want your team or reps to be able to swap out images within a presentation and it is a slide design similar to below where there are layered components. Recommendation would be to lock the phone component on the top to allow them ease of getting to the photos without worrying above moving the layers.
External Links: Be aware and cautious of how many external links you utilize within the presentation. The goal would be to keep the viewer in the presentation as much as possible. As soon as they open up another window you run the risk of them either not being able to find their way back to the original link or getting distracted with the new window you have directed them to.
Slide Navigation: If you have a slide that you are using to “jump” to other slides, it's recommended to have a way to get back to the “main slide”. Otherwise your viewer may get lost in where they are within the presentation or skip over content all together. IF you want to ensure the viewer sees all the content associated with those slides, it might be better served as a popup vs a slide navigation. I would use the slide navigation when you are doing a “choose your own adventure” type scenario.
Keep Text boxes to a minimum: If you have a block a text that is all animating in together it is best practice to keep it all in one text box. You can go in and individually change the style based on line so you have your header, subheadings, and body fonts. This will make it easier to change or edit in the future.
Adding animations: Most slides will utilize animations to make the layout more dynamic. If you add a new component to the layout make sure to add a similar animation. Otherwise the component will stick out and look like an afterthought. This applies to exit animations as well.
Keep scrolling text to a minimum: If there is too much text in a textbox the platform will add a scroll bar so no information is excluded. This is great but unfortunately readers can sometimes miss this feature and miss important information. If you have too much text try making the font sizer smaller, adding another column/box, or adding a pop-up to the page.
