DIGI Chat Controls and Settings

How to open, move, resize and pin the DIGI chat, use the chat box icons, and manage your chat history.

Written by Will Matysik

This article walks through each part of the DIGI chat window, including how to open and close it, what each icon does, how to move, resize or pin the window, and how to find and manage your past chats. For what you can ask DIGI to do, see the ‘Using the DIGI AI Chat’ article linked at the bottom.

Open DIGI

To open DIGI, click the ‘Ask DIGI’ button in the bottom right corner of the page. The button appears almost anywhere you can use DIGI, including your ‘Presentations’ library, while editing a presentation or your master deck, and in Insights.

DIGI opens as a floating window in the bottom right corner of the page. If you last had DIGI pinned to the side, it will open pinned instead (see the ‘Floating vs. Pinned’ section below).

Note: The ‘Ask DIGI’ button doesn’t appear in DIGI PDF Studio, which has its own chat for editing your PDF.

DIGI - Top Bar Icons

Four icons sit in the top right corner of the DIGI window.

From left to right:

‘Chat History’ (clock with a rewinding arrow)

Opens a list of your past chats. See the ‘Chat history’ section below.

‘New Conversation’ (pencil on paper)

Starts a new chat and returns you to the DIGI home screen. Your current chat is saved to your chat history.

‘Pin to Side’ (thumbtack) and 'Unpin from Side' (two stacked windows)

Docks DIGI to the right side of the page.

OR

When DIGI is pinned, this icon changes to ‘Unpin from Side’ (two stacked windows), which turns DIGI back into a floating window.

‘Close DIGI’ (minus sign)

Minimizes DIGI back to the ‘Ask DIGI’ button so you can reopen it anytime.

The DIGI home screen

When you open DIGI or start a new chat, you’ll see the DIGI home screen. It shows example prompts written for your deck, usually pulled from your team’s ‘Prompt Library’. The prompts shown can change, and you may see prompts your teammates created.

Clicking an example prompt adds its text to the chat box at the bottom of the window, where you can edit it before sending. To see all of your team’s prompts, click the ‘Browse all prompts in your library’ link below the example prompts to open the ‘Prompt Library’.

Send a request

Type your request into the chat box at the bottom of the DIGI window, or add a prompt from the home screen or ‘Prompt Library’. Then click the submit button (the blue icon with a white arrow pointing up) to send it, along with any photos or files you’ve attached.

Note: Clicking a prompt only adds its text to the chat box; it won’t send it. You’ll always need to click the submit button.

Chat box icons

Three icons sit in the bottom left corner of the chat box.

From left to right:

‘Add Photos or Files’ (+ icon)

Opens your computer’s file finder so you can attach an image, screenshot, PDF or other file for DIGI to work from.

Note: Attach the file in the same message as the request that uses it. DIGI can’t refer back to a file you attached earlier in the chat, so attach it again if you want DIGI to use it in a new request.

‘Start Voice Input’ (microphone icon)

Lets you speak your request instead of typing it. Click the microphone icon once to start, and click it again to stop. DIGI converts what you say into text in the chat box, which you can review before clicking submit.

The first time you use voice input, your browser may ask for permission to use your microphone (either your computer’s built-in microphone or one connected to it).

‘Open Prompt Library’ (book icon)

Opens the ‘Prompt Library’, where you can browse and search your team’s saved prompts.

Within the Prompt Library, clicking a prompt adds its text to the chat box.

Floating vs. Pinned

By default, DIGI opens as a floating window in the bottom right corner of the page. The floating window sits on top of whatever you’re working on, and you can move and resize it.

When DIGI is pinned to the side, it stays fixed on the right side of the page. The rest of the page shifts to the left and narrows to make room, so DIGI won’t cover your work.

DIGI remembers whether you last had it pinned or floating, and it tries to reopen in the same position and size.

Move and resize the floating window

  1. To move the floating DIGI window, click and drag the white bar at the top of the window.

  2. To resize it, click and drag the small handle in the bottom right corner of the window. Your cursor will change when it’s over the handle. You can only resize from the bottom right corner.

Tip: Since DIGI opens in the bottom right corner, drag it up and to the left first to give yourself room to make it larger.

Chat history

Click the ‘Chat History’ icon in the top bar to see your past chats.

  1. Search chats
Use the ‘Search Chats’ bar to find a past chat by its title or text.

  2. Reopen a chat
Click any chat in the list to reopen it and continue where you left off.

  3. Rename or delete a chat
Hover over a chat and click the vertical ellipsis (three dots) on its right side. ‘Rename’ changes the chat’s title; chats are titled automatically after your first message, and your new title will show in your history. ‘Delete’ permanently removes the chat, so it can’t be reopened and won’t appear in your history. You’ll be asked to confirm before the chat is deleted.

  4. Clear all conversations
Click the vertical ellipsis in the top right corner of the ‘Chat History’ panel and select ‘Clear all conversations’ to delete all of your past chats. You’ll be asked to confirm first.
Note: Deleted chats can’t be recovered, whether you delete one chat or clear all conversations.

  5. Close chat history
Click the x to close the ‘Chat History’ panel and return to the chat you last had open, or to the DIGI home screen if you hadn’t opened one.

  6. Start a new chat
Click ‘New Chat’ at the bottom of the panel to return to the DIGI home screen. This works the same as the ‘New Conversation’ icon in the top bar.

Note: Use the sort dropdown to order your chats by ‘Recent activity’ or ‘Alphabetical’ (by chat title). Click the arrow next to it to switch between ascending and descending order (newest or oldest first for recent activity, and A to Z or Z to A for alphabetical).
